Polar room – 12-24 months
Staff
ratio 1:3
Our room is
a warm, friendly, calm and tactile room
with sensory resources for young
children to reach out for, touch and
feel. We provide activities where
children can build on those they
experienced in our Baby room and provide
new experiences relevant to children’s
interests and capabilities.
Our Early
Years Practitioners and Support Workers
provide a wide range of fun sensory
activities for the children to explore
and to develop their senses such as
painting, water and sand play and other
tactile objects for them to shake,
touch, look at and hear.
Our play
room has soft coverings for children to
sit and lie on with cushions to support
younger children where they can play
with treasure baskets and heuristic
materials such as scarves, purses, keys,
wooden egg timers etc. Heuristic play
provides opportunities for experimenting
spontaneously with a wide range of
everyday objects other than toys.
We have a
separate changing area, situated off the
play room, to give your child privacy.
During transitional visits, when your
child is ready to move to the next
stage, children are introduced to beds
for sleep time.
The Polar’s
play room opens out on to a shaded patio
area where your child can enjoy all the
benefits of outdoor fun and fresh air.
We also have access to a large beautiful
garden where they can enjoy the small
slides and trikes.
Our Early
Years Practitioners and Support Workers
value good relationships with parents.
We are available to discuss your child
at every opportunity and a regular flow
of information is maintained between
parents and staff.
