Angela
Gatford, Company Director
With over 25 years
experience in business, I understand how
important the service is that we provide
for parents and children and we are
always looking to improve that service.
That’s why we constantly reinvest in
nursery resources by expanding and
adapting our modern facilities,
regularly upgrade our equipment and
operate a planned programme of training
for every member of staff. The whole
nursery environment has a vital role to
play in the daily life of the nursery
and our aim is to make this a place
where everyone involved enjoys spending
their time.

Susan
Gorman, Manager
My knowledge
and experience of managing nurseries has
been built up over the past 30 years. I
am still committed and passionate about
the need to equip children with the
skills they need for life. All children
should be encouraged to become confident
individuals with positive attitudes and
to continue learning throughout their
lives.
My role
includes lead responsibility for our 0-3
years departments.
A key
element of our nursery’s ethos is the
knowledge, experience and age range of
our staff who undertake regular
training, both in-house and external.
Staff teams are set up to make the most
of individual strengths working with
children at specific stages of their
development.
Of paramount
importance is the trusting relationship
we aim to develop with parents who
entrust their children into our
care. Parents must feel confident that
their child’s wellbeing and development
are our prime concern and that the care
and support they receive at home
continues throughout their time at
nursery. The holistic experience of our
nursery should always be a happy, safe
and supportive one.

Jacqui
Lowson, Nursery
Manager
Having
qualified as a nursery nurse in 1996, I
began working here in the nursery in
1998. Training and development have
always been important to me and I have
continued to study, achieving a PDA in
Childcare and Education in 2002 and,
more recently, completing my BA in
Childhood Practice with Dundee
University, in 2010.
My role
includes lead responsibility for our 3-5
years departments.
Our job is
to ensure children’s needs are met using
a caring, fun and child-centre
approach. We promote children’s self
esteem and confidence, health and
wellbeing as well as providing access to
a stimulating, learning environment.
Keeping
children at the centre of their learning
is of paramount importance in the work
we do. Each child is encouraged and
supported in their learning by staff,
parents and other professional partners
to help them reach their full
potential. Children are actively
involved in making choices to
investigate anything that interests
them, in a way that is fun, stimulating
and appropriate to their abilities, with
further challenges when they are ready.

Staff
Our Early
Years Practitioners and Support Workers
are experienced in child care and early
education. They are selected for their
expertise in particular areas of child
development and their genuine and caring
nature towards children.
Staff
members hold, or are working towards,
the appropriate qualifications to
register with the Scottish Social
Services Council (SSSC), the government
body whose aim is to raise the standards
of staff working with your child. We
have an expectation of our staff to
continue to update their skills and
qualifications.
- 83% of our staff have a recognised child
care qualification and are eligible to
register with the SSSC.
- 75% of our staff are qualified Early
Years Practitioners
- A further 8% are support workers who are
either qualified or working towards to SVQ Level 2.
A high ratio
of adults to children ensures there is
time for individual attention.
Staff are
responsive to your child’s changing
needs. Parents are also the vital link
in this exchange as staff rely on
parents sharing any new information
about their child when you are welcomed
each morning or on your return at the
end of the day.

Dawn Lawson,
Nursery Cook
Another
important member of staff is Dawn
Lawson, our dedicated, qualified cook.
Dawn has been with us since 2003 and her
love of cooking is apparent in the
healthy, nutritious and appetising meals
and snacks she prepares for the children
every day in our fully equipped kitchen.
In recent
years Dawn has undertaken Cook Safe
training to update her knowledge of
health and safety practices in the
kitchen and her work is rewarded with
excellent reports at every annual
inspection by Dundee City Council’s
Environmental Health inspectors.
Yvonne
Golden,
Admin
Assistant
The whole
nursery is ably assisted by our
Administrative Assistant, Yvonne Golden,
who provides a range of services to
